Our clocks are ticking...

We go through life as if time is on our side, and as though we are going to live forever. It is hard for us to come to grasps with the fact that we are all going to die one day, some sooner than others. We all know someone that has passed, yet it is so hard for us to accept the fact that day will come for us as well. We know in our subconscious that this day is coming, or our bodies are not invincible, because we protect ourselves from the scary world out there, from the things that might take our lives away. We live in caution and in fear. Everyone now is saying, "You only live once". Well, it's true. What are you going to do with your time here on this planet we call home? Are we going to better it for future generations? Are we going to worry about what we say? The "You only live once" ideas are like "I don't feel like going to school today. Oh well, YOLO." No. That's not what it's about. We only have one life to share, to cherish. We all have hour glasses above our heads and only God knows the time you have left. You should be living every day as if it's your last. Now, I'm not saying go out and party. I'm saying love on people, smile at a stranger (you don't know who they might become in your future), take time away from the television and go for a walk around your neighborhood, hear the little kids laughter fill the air. We sometimes get so caught up in our everyday routine, or in our everyday worries that we forget about the little things in life. In today's world, it seems as though it is the little things that are the ones that matter most. The relationships you have with your family for example. How many of you eat dinner with your family around the kitchen table every night? I do. Most teenagers would find it a burden; taking away from their skyping time, homework time, time they could be with their friends or boyfriend. Honestly, your family is who you are, your support system. The nature around you, we don’t take time to smell the flowers anymore. When was the last time you went on a walk, and weren’t worried about losing pounds? You just went on a walk to see what was going on in your neighborhood? We only live once. The people we are, is the world around us. When it comes our time to go, you want to look back on the times that you lived in this world. In my opinion, you want to remember it. We only live once, and all of our glasses are slowly slipping away. We never know when it’s our time. Tell your parents you love them, make sure your teacher knows you appreciate them for grading your last test hard, get up and smell the flowers, splash in the puddles on the sidewalk. Live life, with no regrets.
